Pakistan Announces New ODI Captain and Central Contracts

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Mohammad Rizwan as the new captain of the Pakistan ODI team. Salman Ali Agha will serve as his deputy. This decision comes ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming limited-overs tours of Australia and Zimbabwe.

The PCB has also announced the central contracts for the 2024-25 season. A total of 25 cricketers have been awarded contracts, effective from July 1, 2024.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has divided the central contracts into four categories:

Category A: This category is reserved for the top-tier players who are consistently performing at the highest level. For the 2024-25 season, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been placed in this category.

Category B: This category is for the next tier of players who are considered key members of the national team. Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shan Masood have been placed in this category.

Category C: This category is for players who are considered emerging talents or experienced players who are still contributing to the team. Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, and Shadab Khan are included in this category.

Category D: This category is for players who are considered promising talents or experienced players who are still contributing to the team. Aamir Jamal, Haseebullah, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Hurraira, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, and Usman Khan are included in this category.
